After being able to test another DIBY pattern which is a joy as so many things are made so simple and explained in detail with videos and descriptions, there is nothing that is complicated.

So far I have made 2, a dress and a tunic which I have both worn on a trip to California.a sweater knit….double brushed polyester and so cozy. Unfortunately it’s still to hot here in Mexico to wear them!

It’s on sale this week here and also a free legging pattern is available also!

The Havana

A dress for fun, elegance and warm weather play.

I had the honor to test the new Greenstyle Creations Havana dress/top. It’s a simple sew and I think I love it since I’ve made 4 so far and more ready to sew.

These were out of a light weight cotton and I love this one with the high back.

This is a lightweight rayon and perfect for the beach.

A crossback which could also be a halter.

This one is my favorite, I hacked the pattern to do fabric loops instead of eyelets. It out of a lightweight rayon and it feels great in the heat and humidity, throw it on and go.

Get the Havana here and enjoy the warm weather in style.

A leopard bikini

•June 8, 2018 • Leave a Comment

I joined the Phee Fabric Sew-a-long where the pattern was the Jalie Gigi Swimsuit pattern.

I used the nylon spandex leopard and the black circular knit(scrumptious) and black swim lining. The bottoms were easy with my elasticator foot for my serger, now a no brained, I added for the rise in back and that was it. The top i didn’t make any changes and under stitching as in the instructions didn’t make it lay completely flat so next time I will top stitch and poof resolved.

The fit is really great. I think I may lower the front scoop a bit next time. It held up in the Pool all afternoon so it’s a go. The best part is the fabric it feels great.

My Elegant Vest

Straight Stitch Designs has a be pattern The Magnuson named after beautiful Magnuson Park ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson_Park) where my oldest learned how to sail.

I dont always wear vests and I was shocked how much I love this vest, I mean ❤️. I’ve worn it numerous times since I finished it.

I made it out of linen and only change was lengthening it for my height.

Some details I did were use twill tape for the armhole facings, using snaps, and using twill tape with grommets for the casing as linen can fray like mad. The pattern has beautiful seams as they are flat felled so nothing shows. Lots of pockets too!

I have worn this with shorts and a tank and with capris and even my12 year come t s how great it looks!

Here are some inside details:

Swim Style

•May 29, 2018 • Leave a Comment

Getting ready for the summer means heat and humidity here in the tropics. I’m playing around with heat busters and fabrics. My new favorite swimsuit is the Greenstyle North Shore swimsuit. I also tested out and elastic foot for my serger and what a dream no measuring and bam inserted.

In addition I made a Greenstyle centerfield raglan and a self drafted cover up skirt along with a bag for the beach 🏖 .

I was given a chance to test the new Greenstyle Creations North Shore swim suit pattern and finally learned how to sew a swim suit. It was daunting and the seam ripper was my friend at times but I dove in and conquered it.

There are so many options, one piece, halter, clasp back, reversible bottoms, high mid and high rise options, and full coverage vs less. Sizes available are XXS-3XL.

I will be making a one piece and a halter bikini next.

Here are the many options:
